Course objectives
The main objective of the course is to provide students with the basics of in vivo imaging techniques and to highlight pros and cons in the characterization of tumour metabolism and microenvironment. Moreover, the course will highlight the use of imaging techniques in the drug development process and for assessing therapeutic response in oncological applications at both preclinical and clinical level.

Results of learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students will have understood the several (functional) information that imaging techniques can provide to investigate non-invasively cancer pathologies and will have acquired which methods are more suitable to assess the efficacy of drugs according to their mechanism of action.

Course delivery
The course will be delivered through frontal lectures

Learning assessment methods
Student presentation, in 15 minutes, of a scientific paper (provided by the teacher) related to the main topics of the program. The teachers will evaluate the ability of the student to:
- clearly illustrate the objective, including a detailed description of the exploited imaging approach
- present the data
- critically discuss the results
The grade is expressed through a 30-points scale (minimum 18/30; maximum 30/30).
