 Admission at the Master Program in Molecular Biotechnology

Admission requirements

We welcome applications from candidates who have a Bachelor Degree (three-year first level degree) achieved in Italy (DM 509; DM 270) or other equivalent qualifications obtained from a foreign University. Candidates not yet holding a Bachelor Degree at the date of application, but that will graduate within December 2017 can submit their application.

Eligibility criteria

Candidates must have:

  1. Basic computer skills (Microsoft office, internet navigation) and a minimum B2 English language level under the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
  2. an Italian Bachelor Degree in either  class L2 (Biotechnology) or class L13 (Biological Sciences)

or

a solid background in in General and Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology and Genetics that will be verified by an oral or written test. To be admitted at the verification test:

  • if holding an Italian Bachelor Degree, candidates must have at least:
    • N. 50 credits in one or more of the following scientific areas (SSD): BIO/01, BIO/05, BIO/06, BIO/09, BIO/10, BIO/11, BIO/13, BIO/14, BIO/16, BIO/17, BIO/18, BIO/19, CHIM/01, CHIM/02, CHIM/03, CHIM/06, CHIM/08;
    • N. 10 credits in one or more of the following scientific areas (SSD): FIS/01-FIS/08; MAT/01-MAT/09; SEC-S/01, SEC-S/02, MED/01, INF/01.
  • if holding a Degree obtained from a foreign University, candidates must have an appropriate number of credits in the following subjects: Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, General and Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology and Genetics.

Verification test will be held at the University of Torino in June, September and December, or, for candidates living abroad, via web.  

Selection procedure for candidates holding an Italian Bachelor Degree

Candidates holding an Italian Bachelor Degree in either class L2 (Biotechnology) or class L13 (Biological Sciences) have direct access to our program (see instruction for enrolment).

Candidates holding an Italian Bachelor Degree other than Biotechnology (L2) or Biological Sciences (L13) have to submit their application (Application form). At the end of application procedure, they are requested to upload the following documents:

  • Curriculum vitae
  • University transcript. The official university transcript of your undergraduate or Bachelor studies which includes:
    • the list of all completed coursework,
    • the number of credits/hours for each course,
    • grades of the exams,
    • the final grade obtained upon completion of the studies, if these have been completed.

The Academic Committee of the Master Program in Molecular Biotechnology will evaluate the academic curriculum of applicant. If the candidate is eligible, he/she will be admitted at the verification test. Verification test is held at the University of Torino in June (deadline for application: June 1), September or December (deadline for application: September 1). 

Selection procedure for foreign students

Foreign students have to visit and complete the procedure at "Apply for a Bachelor/Master Course at the University of Torino".
